Our story
Two sides of the same market
Taltec Academy exists because Alvaro Turcios and Jean-Félix Paulin saw the same gap from two different sides of the same market.
Alvaro Turcios
Academic CTO & Co‑Founder
Alvaro built his career in Guatemala's technical and educational sector: teaching information technology and running academic systems at a Guatemalan technical college, then building transportation, customs, and payroll systems at ALTRACO S.A., and supporting SQL Server and ETL processes for OSIGU, an international health insurer. After relocating to Quebec, Canada — where he now works as a data analyst — he saw the same gap from both sides: strong technical talent in Guatemala, and Canadian companies that need exactly those skills. Taltec Academy is his answer to closing that distance.
Jean-Félix Paulin
Co-Founder & CEO
Jean-Félix is Co-Founder and CEO of Taltec Academy. Trained as an anthropologist, he spent the past decade working in Canadian immigration — teaching francisation classes, working as an intercultural consultant helping immigrants and institutions navigate the realities of settling into a new culture, and later founding Immisphere, building technology solutions for the immigration sector. That decade taught him that crossing into a new culture or a new market is a human problem before it's a technical one. Building bridges between cultures has been the throughline of his entire career — at Taltec Academy, that mission simply takes a new shape: training the next generation of Guatemalan tech talent for the international job market.
Together, they run Taltec as two halves of one pipeline: one building the talent, one building the market for it.

For too long, geography, language, economic circumstances, and access have played an outsized role in determining how far a talented person can go. We believe the next generation can be different.
Because for the first time in history, technology gives us the ability to dramatically reduce the importance of distance. Knowledge can travel instantly. People can collaborate across continents. AI can accelerate learning. Automation can multiply what one person is capable of producing.
That is the opportunity we see — and that is why Taltec Academy exists. A talented young person in Guatemala should be able to build skills that matter globally, communicate confidently with someone in Canada, and compete based on something far more meaningful than geography: what they are capable of doing.
But technology alone will not create that future. People will — curious, capable, responsible people who can think critically, communicate, understand other cultures, and use technology without surrendering their judgment to it.
We believe technology should be a bridge, not a destination — between education and work, between Latin America and the global economy, between talent and companies, and between where someone is today and where they could be tomorrow.
